Missions

Loganville First United Methodist Church, Loganville, GA, packed 258 health kits for Haiti relief
on two consecutive Saturdays (January 16th and 23rd).  During this eight day period offerings
received totaled $2,750 for United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) Haiti emergency,
Advance #418325.  May God bless this labor of love and support for our Christian
brothers and sisters in Haiti.  A hearty thank you to those who assembled and packed the kits!

Once a month we participate in mission projects so that we can put our faith into action and experience what it is like
to be God’s hands and feet.  We participate in projects such as helping with homeless shelters, food collections for
Shepherd’s Staff, visiting shut-ins, the Operation Christmas Child warehouse, and the Alcove.  We also participate in
a larger-scale mission project each summer, such as River of Life.  To support our mission work we are involved in
many fundraising activities throughout the year, including a balloon sale, various types of themed dinners, pumpkin
patches, car washes, etc.

Specific missions we take part in annually include:

  •  Mission Trip to Casa Samuel in Garcia, Mexico: A feeding a nurture ministry for children under the
direction of local pastor Eva Zapata. The impoverished community of Garcia, Mexico includes approximately
100 families with 300 children. Mission activities include daily Bible School and installation of home
improvements for advanced functionality, such as electrical wiring, window replacement, and kitchens with
    running water.
  • United Methodist Volunteers in Mission: Provides guidance, training, and placement for short-term
mission volunteers in the Southeast Jurisdiction.
